For people in parts of Logan, Gold Coast and Redland City Council Areas.

Issued at 2:01 am Wednesday, 12 May 2021.

The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 2:00 am, severe thunderstorms were detected on the weather radar near Beenleigh and Mount Cotton. These thunderstorms are slow moving. They are forecast to affect Cleveland, mouth of the Logan River and Victoria Point by 2:30 am and Russell Island, Macleay Island and Peel Island by 3:00 am.

Heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding is likely.

Forest Hill alert (south of Gatton) recorded 63mm in the hour to 10pm.

Mt Mowbullan alert (south of Yarraman) recorded 52mm in the hour to 10:10pm

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should:
* Never drive, walk or ride through flood waters. If it's flooded, forget it.
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
* Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
