Southeast QLD Severe Thunderstorm Warning: Heavy Rain, Damaging Winds

For people in parts of Ipswich, Somerset, Scenic Rim and Lockyer Valley Council Areas.

The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 11:15 pm, severe thunderstorms were detected on the weather radar near the area southwest of Esk and the area west of Esk. These thunderstorms are moving towards the southeast. They are forecast to affect Rosewood by 11:45 pm.

Damaging winds and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding are likely.

Forest Hill alert (south of Gatton) recorded 63mm in the hour to 10pm.

Mt Mowbullan alert (south of Yarraman) recorded 52mm in the hour to 10:10pm

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should:
* Move your car under cover or away from trees.
* Secure loose outdoor items.
* Never drive, walk or ride through flood waters. If it's flooded, forget it.
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
* Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
