Southeast QLD Severe Thunderstorm Warning: Large Hail, Heavy Rain, Damaging Winds

For people in parts of Ipswich, South Burnett, Toowoomba and Lockyer Valley Council Areas.

The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 10:25 pm, severe thunderstorms were detected on the weather radar near Laidley and the area west of Toowoomba. These thunderstorms are moving towards the east to southeast. They are forecast to affect Grandchester and Hatton Vale by 10:55 pm and Cambooya, Rosewood and Marburg by 11:25 pm.

Damaging winds, large hailstones and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding are likely.

Forest Hill alert (south of Gatton) recorded 63mm in the hour to 10pm.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should:
* Move your car under cover or away from trees.
* Secure loose outdoor items.
* Never drive, walk or ride through flood waters. If it's flooded, forget it.
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
* Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
