Southeast QLD Severe Thunderstorm Warning: Large Hail, Damaging Winds

For people in parts of Somerset, Toowoomba and Lockyer Valley Council Areas.

Large hail and/or large accumulations of small hail possible.

The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 6:30 am, severe thunderstorms were detected on the weather radar. Thunderstorms are moving towards the east. They are forecast to affect the area north of Toowoomba, Crows Nest and Hampton by 7:00 am and Esk, the area southwest of Esk and the area west of Esk by 7:30 am.
Damaging winds, large hail and/or large accumulations of small hail are possible.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should:
* Move your car under cover or away from trees.
* Secure loose outdoor items.
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
* Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
* For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500.
