VIC Severe Weather Warning: Damaging Winds

For people in parts of East Gippsland, North East and West and South Gippsland Forecast Districts.

Gusty northerly winds developing over Alpine Areas.

Northerly winds will strengthen as a low pressure system develops southwest of Victoria during tonight and Wednesday.

DAMAGING WINDS, averaging 60 to 80 km/h with peak gusts of 90 to 110 km/h are expected to develop during Wednesday morning over Alpine areas above 1200 metres.

Winds are expected to ease during Thursday afternoon.

Locations which may be affected include Mt Baw Baw, Falls Creek, Mt Hotham and Mt Buller.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Move vehicles under cover or away from trees;
* Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony;
* Keep clear of fallen power lines;
