QLD Severe Thunderstorm Warning: Large Hail, Heavy Rain, Damaging Winds

Severe thunderstorms are occurring across the southwest

Weather Situation: Severe thunderstorms with large hail and potentially damaging wind gusts are now developing north and west of Quilpie. Some severe thunderstorms may have an abundance of small hail (large accumulation of hail) near Stonehenge and just east of Birdsville.

Heavy thunderstorms are continuing around Cunnamulla.

Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds, heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding, large hailstones and an abundance of small hail over the next several hours in parts of the Central West and Channel Country districts. Locations which may be affected include Stonehenge, Jundah and areas just east of Birdsville.

Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding over the next several hours in parts of the Maranoa and Warrego district. Locations which may be affected include Cunnamulla and Wyandra.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should:
* Move your car under cover or away from trees.
* Secure loose outdoor items.
* Never drive, walk or ride through flood waters. If it's flooded, forget it.
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
* Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
