River level rises across the Flood Watch area are likely to continue in response to heavy rainfall.

A weak monsoonal trough and moist and unstable air mass will persist across northern Cape York Peninsula over the weekend, contracting further north by
Monday.

Further rainfall is expected across the Flood Watch area over the next few days with some moderate to heavy falls possible on Saturday.

Heavy rainfall is expected to produce further river level rises and an increased risk of flooding.

Catchments likely to be affected include:

Jardine River
Ducie, Jackson and Skardon Rivers
Wenlock River
Embley and Mission Rivers
Watson River
Archer and Coen Rivers
Holroyd and Kendall Rivers
Jacky Jacky Creek
Olive and Pascoe Rivers
Lockhart River
Stewart River
